The intersection of the two curves defines cardiac output and venous return for any given set of conditions involving the right heart and the systemic venous circulation.
This equilibrium point defines the steady-state cardiac output at a specific atrial pressure. The venous return (and cardiac output) becomes zero when the atrial pressure equals the mean circulatory filling pressure (MCFP).
MCFP or MSFP is the point on the graph's x-axis where the venous return is 0.
Exercise
See decreased total peripheral resistance, increased cardiac output, increased venous return.
